Wendy Williams cries as she recalls ‘really scary’ on-air collapse
Wendy Williams bounced back after passing out during her show Tuesday morning.
The talk show host returned to her long running series on Wednesday morning to share what caused her to pass out on live television and was brought to tears recalling the incident.
“It was really scary,” Williams told the audience Wednesday morning as she began crying.
Williams told viewers that it was chaos behind the scenes as the paramedics came to give her tests and make sure everything was OK.
She said her tests came out fine and showed she was lacking electrolytes and dehydrated.
“First of all, I was trending all day,” she said while smiling. “Fabulous.”
The 53-year-old had stumbled over and fell to the ground while dressed as the Statue of Liberty during the Halloween-themed episode.
Crew members rushed to her aid before the show cut to commercials.
On Wednesday, she recalled the incident saying she was trying her best to look cute as she fell and make sure the podium didn’t fall on top of her.
Williams returned after the commercial break to inform viewers she truly passed out and it was not a Halloween prank.
Stars take a tumble
“I’m a champ and I’m back,” she said.
A rep for the show told the Daily News in a statement that the star overheated from the heavy costume, makeup and lights.
On Tuesday afternoon, Williams emerged from the studio garage in the back of an SUV and opened the window for a second.
“I’m ok,” said the host, who was donning big black sunglasses. “I’m going home, thank you,” she smiled and waved.
Williams later posted a video of herself resting on the couch surrounded by Gatorade, water and Pedialyte.
“The Wendy Williams Show” airs weekdays on Fox at 10 a.m. and on My 9 at 4 p.m.
