Earlier on Sunday, SEC Country’s Mike Griffith reported that Tennessee athletic director John Currie and other Vols officials were mulling overJones’ future in Knoxville.

It’s still possible that Jones, who is in his fifth season at Tennessee, could lead the Vols to a bowl game. Tennessee currently sits at 3-5 and still has matchups vs. Southern Miss, Missouri, LSU and Vanderbilt.

According to a report from GoVols247, Jones’ fate already has been determined. It’s now a matter of when, not if, Jones will be fired as Tennessee’s coach.

We’ll see what happens in the coming hours and days of this fluid situation.
