‘Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp’ arrives on smartphones in November (update)

Nintendo

Nintendo has announced a new Animal Crossing game, but unlike New Leaf and Happy Home Designer, it’s not landing on the 3DS. This time, the game is making its way to your iPhones and Android devices as a free-to-play title in late November. In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, you build your own camp from scratch instead of developing a town. Despite the change in setting, the elements the beloved franchise is known for are still there: Isabelle will still guide you in your journey, along with the animals that move into your camp.

You’ll able to visit other camps and make friends with other players, as well as build new facilities. To be able to build a new pool or a playground, you’ll have to find crafting items and wait until they’re finished. Now, here’s how Nintendo intends to make money from the game: you can purchase those items and speed up the facilities’ construction with Tom Nook’s help by paying with Leaf Tickets, which you can earn inside the game or buy using real money.

Nintendo didn’t give an exact date for Pocket Town’s launch, but you can pre-register on its website to be notified as soon as it comes out. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’ll be available everywhere when it launches (see the launch list below), but Nintendo says it plans to bring it to more locations in the future.

Launch list:

  • Austria

‘Destiny 2’ is 2017’s best-selling game after just one month

Destiny 2 is the best selling game for one single reason. The hype train, the game itself has no depth and is lacking in so many areas it would take hours to discuss them all. After only a week or 2 of playing the game it takes a turn towards the dull and all desire to play is gone. The facts have already come out in full force and a few weeks after the PC version drops it will become extremely apparent to the entire community. I loved Destiny 1 and many players feel this is the end of bungie’s solid reputation.

Trump announces program to test drones beyond FAA regulations

And in completely unrelated news, a Trump-owned subsidiary, dealing in robotics, announced it is purchasing Cyberdyne Systems. Due to the fact that both companies are privately held, the purchase price is not being disclosed. While the preceding comment is 100% “fake news”, the following information is 100% REAL. The fictional Cyberdyne Systems, as depicted in the Terminator movies, is located in Sunnyvale, CA. Interestingly, there is a REAL Cyberdyne Inc., based in Japan, which started by manufacturing robotic exoskeletons. Furthermore, the core model name of these exoskeleton suits is…HAL (in this case, it stands for “Hybrid Assistive Limb”). Additionally, Cyberdyne also manufactures robots…primarily cleaning & porter robots…that utilize AI.While Donald Trump doesn’t actually own, directly or indirectly (as far as it is known publicly) any robotics companies, nor does he have any vested interest (again, as far as the public is aware) in any AI companies, it is widely known that Trump has been pushing for increases in commercial robotics usage. What will his next steps be in these areas? That’s something to think about.

‘Bury Me, My Love’ brings a Syrian refugee’s tale to your phone

I wonder whether the game will cover the fact that the Arabian countries with similar cultures surrounding Syria are taking no refugees while other countries sometimes thousands of miles away with utterly different cultures are forced to take them in.I also wonder whether Majid thinks about all the economic migrants and non-Syrians parading as Syrian refugees.Probably not. I believe this is nothing more than sympathy propaganda.

‘Super Mario Odyssey’ is everything it needs to be and more

What more can be said other than a game doesn’t need 4,000 FPS or beyond realistic graphics to be fun. Wish more game studios would realize this. I’ve been having more fun on my switch than I have had in a long time with my PS 4.

Microsoft ceases production of the Kinect

Its amazing reading these comments just how many people seem to think that Kinect is just a microphone and Skype camera. The Kinect has fantastic limb tracking. It can be used to allow even beginner programmers to make cool programs and games that use limb-based conditions (I.e. left hand above head) as user input. As a computer programming teacher, this is great! Also, there were a ton of very good fitness games for Kinect on 360. The UFC game is one of the best exercise games I’ve ever seen. Even the simple Kinect Sports had some really good mini-games that doubled as fantastic workouts (soccer goalie, anyone?)But I guess at the end of the day, the largest consumers are Americans, and they hate getting up off of their couch and moving… This is a sad day for gaming and for technology.

Daimler unveils its electric truck weeks ahead of Tesla’s big debut

I’d posit that EMusk is indeed thrilled at Daimler’s announcement. He has always stated one of his goals is to energize competition in the electric transportation space. Some people thrive off of competition. I hope he comes back with something to one up good ol’ Daimler 🙂
