The Los Angeles Lakers may have lost to the New Orleans Pelicans Sunday night, but there were some positives to take away. Here are three standouts for the Lakers from Sunday.
The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night at the STAPLES Center, 119-112. It looked like the game was going to be a blowout for most of the night, but the young Lakers squad never gave up despite facing a deficit as large as 22 points.
The Lakers had their hands full with Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. They dominated on both ends of the court, putting the Lakers into that big hole. However, they weren’t able to keep the Lakers down the whole night, as they climbed out of that big hole to take the lead for the first time about midway through the fourth quarter.
It was a great thing to see as the Lakers got off to a very slow start. Los Angeles missed their first eight shots of the game and looked out of sync. A blowout looked to be in full effect, but Luke Walton found a lineup that clicked and the comeback was on.
The Lakers ran out of gas the final minutes of the fourth quarter, as New Orleans finished the game on a 13-2 run to seal the victory.
Despite the loss, there were plenty of positives to take away from the game, the fact they did not just hang their heads and get blown out being paramount among them. Seeing the young players lead the comeback was encouraging as the Lakers are hoping they show a lot of improvement this offseason to help push the rebuild forward.
While some players struggled to pick up the slack, there were some that answered the call and performed well against the Pelicans. Check out our slideshow of three Lakers standouts from the loss Sunday evening.
