Fayette County ACT scores dip slightly

Slightly fewer Fayette County high school students took the ACT college entrance exam this year, and scores were slightly lower as well.

Terry Oatts, assistant superintendent of student achievement, reported to the Board of Education on Sept. 18 that 1,079 district students took the test, compared to 1,155 in 2016. Composite scores for 2017 averaged 23.2, a slight drop from 23.6 last year but still exceeding the state’s average by 1.8 points. Scores across all subject areas decreased from .2 to .6 points; those in reading and science had the greatest decline.
